Kit B EP announced

Our first release with Manchester legends Kit B will be on March 25th and is a three track EP. It’s a follow up to their acclaimed 2015 release “Be Your Own God”.

Iron Mouse & Space Museum debut with Treatments

Iron Mouse (formerly Ion-Morph) and Space Museum celebrate the next phase in their partnership with a five track EP “Treatments” released on February 12th. This is their first release under the new name.

The duo’s usual obsessions are in play with tunes about the treatment of mental patients, abusive patriarchs, religion, retro music and cover bands, and politics/duplicity, all wrapped up in layered post-rock electronica.

Here’s a video of lead track “Treatments”

Scott Free

One half of the mighty Staggs – m.t.scott – has delivered to us a delightful parcel of a four track EP. Pending new Staggs material he has delved into his archive and enhanced a collection of excellent tunes which merge trip-hop, ambient, cinema soundtracks and sprinklings of guitar and piano. Blessed with the usual Scott world weary and sardonic narrative the songs capture a feel somewhere between Before and After Science era Eno, John Barry and european neo-realism.  Entitled “The Broken EP” it will be released on 19th February via Bandcamp and our usual digital outlets.

Intelligent, emotional and thought-provoking this is one not to be missed for lovers of fine music.

Kit B join German Shepherd

We are pleased to announce that Salford/Manchester/Chester band Kit B will be releasing an EP with us this year.

Featuring our very own “The Junta” aka Monty on bass as well as other local music legends Danny Cusick (The Hidden Gem), Mike Powell (Exchange, Night Operations) and Peter Slater (Vee V V, Tunnelvision) the band deliver cutting edge Manchester indie and are gaining a growing reputation since their self-released EP “Be Your Own God” from 2015. It will feature this track “It Always Rains (On Sunday)” – watch this space for more news.

Check out their website.

Hamsters Branch Out

We are pleased to announce the release of a four track EP from Hamsters.

Called “Branches” the EP was recorded at 6dB studio in Salford by Simon “Ding” Archer, and features the current line-up of Ian Moss, Jon Rowlinson, Nigel Blinston and Damian Hughes.

Of the release Moss said, ” It is called “Branches” because this is music created by the latest line up from the Hamsters family tree , a stable line up too ! In fact the most stable ever Hamsters line up now though still only 10 months old,  The Hamsters tale as has been well documented has been bloody and fractured , punctured by violently differing opinions , and yet there has remained a bond of brotherhood despite that , pride in our work runs deep even while we have drunk and laughed and made merry we always put the song first , we are of course proud of these recordings we present to you , they were recorded with smiles on our faces , I hope they make you smile too.”

The EP will available digitally through Bandcamp and a wide range of other Digital Outlets including, amongst others, Deezer, Amazon, I-Tunes, and Spotify. There will also be a limited edition run of CDs available from Bandcamp or at gigs.

Pre-release of the EP is on Monday 26th October with full release on 6th November.

We want to thank local company Mint Copy and their Touch Music service for doing an excellent job in producing the CDs. We cannot praise them highly enough for their help and assistance.

Well, you’ll have to listen to find out.

Whatever, it’s his time……..

Super Sellers

4th of September sees the release of a four track EP from Manchester legends Monkeys In Love,

Monkeys In Love met at a rave in a disused mental asylum in 2005. Since then they have grown from an original shouty two-piece configuration to become a decidedly more dynamic and considered five-piece. Their sound is hard to pigeon hole, but could be described as a strange canned-cocktail of forgotten film soundtracks, junk shop glam, lead-footed library funk, early eighties British indie, sludge metal… or maybe just a drunken, surly Stereolab.

Their lyrics are sly and sardonic and cover a broad range of subjects, including the cycle of life, internet trolls and hair transplants. They are a heavily visual band and incorporate puppetry, props and projection into the live act.

Monkeys In Love

Monkeys In Love from left to right above are:

Laura on vox and visual stuff, Eamonn on guitar, Chris on bass
Steve on vox, keys and lyrics and Danielle on guitar, flute and recorder

The Superselling Sounds Of The Monkeys In Love is a round-up of some actual jingles that the band have  made for various things and some mock jingles that they have made for fun. It’s also a twist on the idea of a “best-of” compilation, in that some of the tracks are re-purposed versions of some of their more popular songs that they’ve either re-recorded or remixed and now sport exciting new lyrics about radio shows and stuff.

The tracks are

  1. Graphene Is Making The Scene
  2. Salesmen’s Wives
  3. Superselling Sounds Medley
  4. Gin In A Can 2015

Most of the EP was recorded by Steve between March and July 2015, but track three comprises of material recorded between June 2012 and July 2015. All songs by Monkeys In Love, except Salesmen’s Wives by Monkeys In Love & P. Nash

Priced at £3 the EP is available as a digital download from the German Shepherd Bandcamp Site from September 4th.

Twin Ion-Morph releases are our first offerings for July

With the summer heat beating down we offer two slices of Ion-Morph as our first releases in July.

Working again with Loop-aznavour, Ion brings two stunning tracks – the sixties pop stylings of “Go For The Throat” are married with the silky gallic pop charm of Hog & Bone, there are echoes of 70s TV themes in the mix as well. The two combine to create a fantastic sound and we believe this is their best release to date,

The dynamic duo are currently working on a full album release for later in the year.

The second release sees the return of the familial duo of Morph and Nemo with a cautionary tale. Morph advises “The novels of Jim Thompson have given me pleasure and inspiration over several decades , I recently informed a psychiatrist that I identified strongly with Lou Ford the central character in ‘ The Killer Inside Me ‘ , this is an imagining of inhabiting said characters mindset.”

Nemo plays with unusual time signatures to create a unique musical experience. This track is offered as free download.
